The averages are package price divided by advertised nights. The differences are (quantity × $49) − package price. Neither calculation verifies accepted qualifying-night delivery. This is a research-based comparison of LuxuryAscent's own offer, not a tested service review.
Two different gaps, two different budgets
Consider a member with 30 posted qualifying nights and no more travel planned. The gap to Platinum is 10. If 10 additional nights were eligible and accepted, a $450 package would match that quantity.
For another member with 45 qualifying nights, the gap to Diamond is 25. A $999 package matches that numerical gap under the same eligibility assumption. Using the wrong 75-night threshold would overstate the gap by five.
Now add already-planned travel. If that second member expects 10 more qualifying nights from ordinary trips, the remaining gap falls to 15. A 25-night package might then overshoot the actual objective. The right calculation changes with the itinerary, not just the account balance today.
Use a benefit budget, not a badge budget
Work out what the higher status would change on your real trips. Separate benefits you expect to use from attractive features that may never matter to you.
A hypothetical $999 outlay spread across 12 future stays needs $83.25 of incremental value per stay to break even. Across four stays, the hurdle is $249.75. These are spending tests, not valuations of IHG benefits or promised hotel savings.
If the calculation only works by assuming every possible upgrade or benefit has full cash value, reduce the estimate. Keeping your current tier can be the sounder outcome.
Make sure the activity can qualify
IHG does not award qualifying-night credit for a no-show, even when the room is paid in full. An advertised night package should therefore not be treated as automatic approval for an unattended reservation. IHG member terms.
Ask how the proposed arrangement meets IHG's requirements, what participation is necessary and what remedy applies if credits are declined. Then review the IHG package options against the gap you actually have.
