The most expensive Marriott mattress-run mistake is paying for nights that do not produce the credits you expected. Room nights, reward points and Elite Night Credits are different measures. A low room rate only becomes useful to a status plan after you confirm the property's crediting rules.

Check the brand before calculating value
Marriott's current rules include brands that earn half an Elite Night Credit per qualifying night, including Protea Hotels, City Express and Four Points Flex. Consider two hypothetical hotel options, excluding taxes and travel costs:

The calculation is room rate ÷ credits per night. Hotel B costs more per night but less per credit. These are illustrative prices, not quotes for bookable hotels. The comparison assumes the stays otherwise qualify and that the required number of nights can be completed.
More rooms do not multiply your own night credits
Booking several rooms for the same dates is not the same as staying several qualifying nights. Marriott distinguishes points that may be earned on additional qualifying rooms from Elite Night Credits earned for your personal room. Marriott's multiple-room guidance.
If your family needs three rooms, book what the trip requires. Just do not build your personal status forecast as though a two-night family visit automatically becomes six Elite Night Credits.
Ask what “10 nights” actually means
LuxuryAscent advertises Marriott packages of one night for US$49, 10 for US$450 and 25 for US$999, checked on 8 September 2026. The corresponding advertised averages are $49, $45 and $39.96 per night. LuxuryAscent Marriott product.
Before comparing those figures with hotels, establish the unit being delivered. Does the proposal concern accommodation nights, accepted Elite Night Credits or something else? Which property, rate and member-participation requirements apply? A package name alone cannot answer those questions.

Keep a crediting record
For any genuine qualifying stay, retain the booking confirmation, rate conditions, final bill and relevant account entries. Put expected credits beside posted credits so you can investigate a mismatch instead of discovering it at the deadline.
For a third-party service, also obtain a written description of the arrangement and the remedy if the promised result is not accepted. No independent evidence of a programme-approved fulfilment method is established by this article.
